Vitalii Rashkevich: "We are preparing footballers who will be able to help first team in the Champions League and Europa League"
According to the results of the first leg Sheriff-2 shares the second place with Sfintul Gheorghe. Are you staisfied with the result?
- What is the result for us? We have to understand it. Yes, today we share the second place with Sfintul Gheorghe, but it is not the main thing, even if we are on the first place. The main result for us is the preparation of footballers for the first team. The second place in the tournament table - it's a good thing, but not the main for me. I'm not that glad with the growth of the football level of the second team. It is okay, you always have room for growth.
It's not a secret that in every match you demand from footballers more than they show. What is still needing workout?
- Sure, Sheriff-2 is the team, according to their age, from which everyone demands more and more every day. Football here must be developed in several ways - technical, psychological and physical. That's why in every match I demand from them to play better.
Are there currently footballers in Sheriff-2, whose level will allow them to make the first team soon, and what qualities must the second team player posess?
- We do have such footballers, have always had. I won't name them. First of all, I wouldn't like to make a mistake, I'm not the only man who is responsible for that - many things depend on administration and players themselves. It's life - a footballer can fall ill, move to another country. For me they all are first team players. As for the qualities of the second team player, I can say the following - they must posess quite the same qualities as the footballers of the first team. He must be on par in terms of technical and physical qualities, be quick, quickly distribute the ball, quickly think on the pitch, have good speed, reasonable agression. The better these qualities - more sure the player is.
How do the players get to play in Sheriff-2?
- Young footballers come to us mainly from Sheriff-2 academy. The selection goes according to several criteria - quickness, physical conditions, technics. Also footballer must be intelligent. Our aim is not just to grow up young player, but to grow up a personality for the society. We are preparing footballers who will be able to help first team in the Champions League and Europa League. That's why we try to give young players not only football education, but human as well.
What must be fixed in the system of preparation of the local players for them to be able to compete the foreign players.
- Players must train individually. Every footballer has weaknesses and strong features. In individual work the weaknesses can be withdrawn and good features can be developed, while during the main training sessions it's hard to work on this. Individual training session supposes technical work with the ball and the development of strength and power qualities in the gym, if there is such necessity. In such case our players may be on par with those who we invite.
You know Moldavian football well, but also you know Balarussian football. What are the differences between the means of preparation of young players in Belarus and Moldova?
- In Belarus the football is more physical, more athletic. There the players are physically more strong and powerfull. In Spain football is more technical, in Italy they devote more time to tactics., in Germany and England the football is more powerful. If we draw the parallels, Belarus seems like English football, and Moldavia seems to be the technical Spanish football. That's the difference.
In the Division A the most dangerous opponent, according to the first round results and the tournament table is Veris. In the first round Sheriff-2 lost to Veris with the score 3-1. To win the championship in the second round Sheriff-2 has to beat Veris. Despite the difference in age among the players, how can we beat them?
- I'll say again, it's not vital for us to win against Veris and to secure the first place. We are not the first team, who has to become champions. We have to grow up professional footballers. If we don't win against Veris, but 2 or 3 players go to the first team - we will achieve the result. That's ok. If we win against Veris and become champions, but the first team won't be interested in our players - that will be a disaster.
What must be done for local football to be more popular among youngsters?
- You can make football popular only with spectacular game. Football is a social phenomenon, it's the sense of life for millions of people, sport nr.1 in the world. Be it a man, or whole state, or the continent - they either like football or not. You can't make them like it. Once again - football is the sense of life.
