Roberto Bordin: “We played a very good match”
FC Sheriff head coach Roberto Bordin after the first round match of the UEFA Europa League group stage against AS Roma:
- Your team lost today, but we can say that it was Sheriff that came to the fore. Do you agree with this?
- We played a very good match. This is especially true in the first half. And the goal that we conceded at the end of the half was not entirely logical from the game that you all saw. The opponents have very high quality players and they made the difference in the second half.
- Today Talal looked very good in midfield. It was clear that he was leading the team’s game….
- The whole team played well and I wouldn’t like to single out anyone in particular. I was pleased with the guys' performance and thanked them for their performance against a very strong team. Today two teams played, and the difference was made by the individual qualities of the players. And of course, you need to have a little luck.
- How would you evaluate the team’s performance in attack?
- I repeat, we played a very good match, especially in the first half. And if we had been lucky, we would have gone into the break with the lead, and the goal we conceded was probably a lack of luck.
- Thank you for the team’s performance and for a good start in the group stage of the Europa League. How can you assess the further development of events in the second and third rounds of the tournament? We think that FC Sheriff may well take second place.
- Every match is different from the previous one, yes, today we played a good match and I thanked the guys. But there is a Championship match ahead of us, on which we must concentrate. The group is very difficult and every fight will be different.
- You released young Dan Botsan at the end. Can you rate his performance?
- We tried to play with a very fast player who would help us carry out a quick attack. He played only a few minutes and, of course, could not make the difference alone, but he played very well in two situations.
