Roberto Bordin: "Everybody on the team understands how responsible the game is for us"
Head coach of FC "Sheriff" Roberto Bordin spoke before tomorrow's match with the Polish "Legia" with journalists:
- Good afternoon. First of all, I want to say that tomorrow will be a completely different game than the one we had in Poland. We know that we have to play with a very strong opponent, a team with a rich history and experience of playing in European competition. What we were required to do, we did, scored the ball on the road. In modern football this is very important. We tried to play our football and be on top. Now we play at home, in front of our fans. Of course, we understand that "Legia" will play in more attacking football. The opponent will try to score, to look for the chances that they need. We will adapt to this and do everything to get a good, positive result for us.
- In the last matches we saw many surprises in the line-up. First of all, in the last match of the Championship. Maybe you want to open the veil, what can we expect tomorrow in terms of team’s line-up?
- You want to know the scheme of the game, and who will walk out tomorrow on the field, right? We always decide everything after the last training session. We have today a training session after the press conference. Then we will discuss, and decide what the plan will be, and with which team we will leave on the field. We watched the last game in Warsaw, against "Legia". We saw our shortcomings. Also we saw those moments in the game, in which the opponent tried to make us "hurt." We will eliminate them. And decide what the plan will be, and who will leave tomorrow on the field.
- In this European company, "Sheriff" is playing better second-half. Maybe tomorrow you'll give an arrangement, so that the "Sheriff" scored already in the first half?
- If it was easy to answer this question, we would prefer to start each match from 45 minutes and play to 90. In modern football every minute is important, and more importantly it is the result. On the game in Poland, I can say that I'm very happy for our guys, who in the second half, despite the fatigue, recouped, could score one more goal. This indicates our physical condition and readiness. It is important to score, and when, in the first half or second - it's secondary.
- Is there pressure on the team, how does it deal with this, considering that they lost in a more difficult tournament?
- There is some pressure before every match. And this is normal. I want to say a more important thing: everyone in the team understands how accountable the game is tomorrow for us. Both the coaching staff and the players realize that this is a good chance for us to get into the group tournament of the Europa League. And this is the most important thing. In Poland, we showed good football, achieved a positive result. It remains to confirm it. Goal on the road is very important. We will do our best to play well.
