Roberto Bordin: I'm dissatisfied we let in last minute goals
FC Sheriff head coach Roberto Bordin about the game against FC Sf. Gheorghe and upcoming trip to Moscow:
Good evening. First of all, I’d like to say that we are not satisfied with the lost points. Especially in that way. We still have an edge over other teams. But we wished to keep a seven point lead at least. I’m also dissatisfied that it’s the second consecutive game we let in a last minute goal. We need to learn from it. That rings the alarm. We’ll find out where our mistake was. As for the play, we created lots of chances but again we had problems with their converting. I told my players that they need to assist and score more – 2-3 goals then the goals conceded in the end wouldn’t turn the scale.
Can this negative factor affect the coming up battle in Moscow?
It’s always painful to lose points. Surely, the players are sensitive to the negative vibes as today we haven’t managed to get three points we need. At the same time, we shouldn’t go to Moscow with bad feelings. Every game teaches us lessons to be learnt. We must sort out positive episodes from the negative and find out what else we should work on. Today we are not in a good spirit. Tomorrow we’ll begin to prepare for the match in Moscow. We still have time for this. The team will pull themselves together and everything will be fine. Next battle we will face in other mood.
How does the training for the game against Lokomotiv keep going after you gave the players a chance to rest in two games in a row?
Some players rested during the Cup game to play today. It’s an ordinary team rotation. We can afford it. The bench is long. The training goes as usual. We have time for everything. The players who have played today will rest tomorrow, others will have a full training. I think in Moscow we will be in the optimal physical condition.
How do you see the game? On matchday, they promise 0 degrees and full stadium – a bit unusual conditions for our team…
The weather? It will affect both teams. Maybe Lokomotiv is more accustomed to cold. As I’d already joked after the game for the Cup, they should be running more. It may help to get warm. Full stadium? That’s always a pleasure. We will try to play well and show our best.
What can you say about the play of the newcomer Jessiе Guera Djou?
He is young and has lots of potential. I think that in a while he will grow mentally and tactically. He played more in the Cup game and acquitted himself well. I’m glad that today he showed good play too. He has everything ahead and definitely can help the team.
