New Head Coach of the first team
After returning from vacation, the first team of FC Sheriff will be headed by a new coaching staff headed by Yuriy Vernydub. FC Sheriff management and the Ukrainian specialist came to an agreement on cooperation.
Yuriy Vernydub, who will turn 55 in January, played at the highest level in Ukrainian teams, and in the last years of his career he played 82 matches for Zenit St. Petersburg.
He began his coaching career in 2001 at Metallurg, Zaporizhia, where he spent 8 years, after which he moved to Zorya, Luhansk. In 2011 he became the Head Coach, who headed it until May 31, 2019. During this time, he managed to lead the Luhansk club to the final of the Cup of Ukraine and get bronze medals in the Championship of Ukraine. Also, the team under his leadership played in European competitions for 5 seasons in a row, of which twice was a member of the group stage of the UEFA Europa League. For two years he was recognized as the Coach of the Year in Ukraine. He spent most of the last season at FC Shakhtyor Saligorsk, which, thanks to Yuriy Vernydub, became the Champion of Belarus.
