Luis Phelipe: «Ready for new challenges and striving for victories»
Our club continues to strengthen its ranks, and one of the recent acquisitions was Brazilian forward Luis Phelipe. The striker, who has experience of playing in the championships of Austria, Switzerland, Brazil and Romania, has already had time to get acquainted with the new team and shared his first impressions. Luis talked about the reasons for his move, his ambitions in our team and expectations from the upcoming season.
- Luis, congratulations on joining FC Sheriff. What are your first impressions of the club and the team?
- Thank you for the congratulations. Before signing the contract and arriving at the club I already knew about FC Sheriff. It became obvious from the offer I received. From the very first day I was well received by the team and coaching staff. Here I am confident in my abilities to improve and move forward. It is important to prepare well for the matches of the Championship and Cup of Moldova.
- What was the key factor in your decision to move to Sheriff?
- One of the reasons is the presence of players from Brazil in the team. It makes adaptation much easier. I also like the fact that there are a lot of young and ambitious players in the team.
- You have played in several countries: Austria, Switzerland, Brazil, Romania. How has this experience influenced your game?
- I managed to develop significantly, both in terms of game play and mentally. I tried new positions, different training methods, learned several languages, which helps me to adapt. This experience helped to shape me as a person and a footballer.
- You became the Romanian champion and the winner of the Romanian Super Cup. What emotions did you experience?
- It was an amazing time. I was happy to lift the trophy, especially considering the club hadn't won it for 10 years. I'm proud to be part of this history.
- After returning to Brazil, you went back to Europe. Why.
- In 2019 I went to Europe for the first time, but I couldn't adapt in Austria. Back then I was young, lonely, I had no support. Now I come back more mature, confident, knowing the European mentality and culture.
- What are your goals in the new club?
- Sheriff has excellent conditions for development and training. We want to become champions and play in European cups.
- You play on the position of forward. Describe your style of play?
- Speed, dribbling, playing one-on-one, finishing attacks. My idol has always been Neymar, and I try to develop his strong qualities.
- Do you have a preferred position on the pitch?
- I am ready to play on any position in the attack, whether it is the center, left or right wing. The main thing is to benefit the team.
- What aspects of the game would you like to improve?
- After a long vacation in Brazil, I need to regain my playing form. The main emphasis now is on physical training, training in the gym, as well as sleep and nutrition, because it is very important for a professional footballer.
- You were born in Santos, a city with rich soccer traditions. How has this influenced your career?
- Santos has given the world great soccer players, such as the “king of soccer”, Pele. Neymar, by the way, is also from there. It's incredibly motivating. I grew up among such examples and realized that I wanted to become a professional player.
- What do you expect from the interaction with the team and fans?
- I hope for support, care and understanding. For my part I will try to respond in the same way. On the field I will be happy, ambitious and striving for victories!
