Lilian Popescu: We are only learning to play football
FC Petrocub Head coach Lilian Popescu post-match against FC Sheriff:
We played the game unevenly. First 15 minutes were good. But after 2-3 unforced errors we got stuck and conceded soft goals. In the second half, we played better. The only remark – we had not enough intensity. We work on the ball control. We have a slight progress, but we often are getting absorbed with the ball control disregarding attacking. We can only congratulate FC Sheriff with the win and to wish them good luck in the Europa League.
The goal conceded from a penalty, has it affected the course of the match?
A ball lost from a penalty can make any team to lose its balance (and we played away against the Champion). We discussed it during the halftime. I told the guys that there would be a chance to score, we shouldn’t give up. We only learn to play football. I’m thankful to the guys for their dedication. We have progress, but still small. It’s our third defeat. Five finals are waiting ahead. And then we’ll see what place we will get. The only thing I can say is that next season this team with or without me will fight for the top places.
