Gustavo Dulanto: "We are all united by our love of football"
Who is Gustavo Dulanto? The newcomer of the “yellow-blacks” from distant Peru answered the questions of the club's press office and opened the curtain by telling about himself and his football career.
- Gustavo, how are you in your new place?
- Since I arrived, the weather has been cold enough. It was in Portugal that I first experienced cold, but here it is even colder. Thank you for the indoor arena for the club - it is possible to train in excellent conditions. The flight to Tiraspol was long, I was tired, plus the change of time zones. In general, everything is fine, adaptation is proceeding according to schedule. I am very pleased that I ended up at Sheriff and I can't wait to start the second half of the season with my new team.
- When did you first hear about the possibility of moving to Moldova and about the contract with Sheriff?
- Three weeks ago, my agent told about such an offer. I immediately looked up on the internet about the club and was quite impressed with its infrastructure. The decision to come here was not long in coming.
- What did you say to your friends in Peru when they first asked where you will play this year?
- In fact, my friends did not know about it until the moment when I already had tickets on hand. But when they found out, they were not surprised, they supported my decision, because they know that I have a craving for everything new. I like to overcome new challenges - in fact, that's probably why I'm here today.
- Tell us about your football career in Peru.
- I started playing this game at the age of 5. My family is close to football, my father was also a professional player. I am grateful to him for his constant support. At the age of 16, I decided to continue playing in Argentina, gaining experience in the academy of FC Rosario Central. At the age of 19, I returned to Peru again and soon made my debut for Universitario. Later I played for Real Garcilaso FC, after which moved to the Portuguese Boavista.
- What was it like playing in the Portuguese Premier League?
- There I got my first experience of playing in Europe. Frankly, it was difficult for me to adapt to Portuguese football. But soon everything turned out thanks to my perseverance and hard work.
- You have two goals in that league, one of them against Benfica. Tell us about that game.
- That day I was not myself. My relative passed away, I could not get to Peru and see him off. Despite this, I managed to mobilize and enter the field, although we lost that meeting. When I scored the ball, I told myself that it was in memory of him.
- Now we have defenders from Africa, Europe and South America in our club. Can you find a common language with everyone?
- I think yes. There are partners from Colombia and Brazil, with whom I communicate in the same language. I speak English with the rest. On the pitch, we all speak the same language, because we are all united by our love of football.
- What do you want to aim at in the upcoming season?
- We must win the Championship to reserve a place for a club in the Champions League.
