The international tournament Autumn Sheriff Cup -2019 is over. The teams born in 2003 and 2004 ended the tournament. Our trainees competed with clubs and academies of the following cities: Iasi, Cluj-Napoca, Varna, Sumy, Kiev, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chisinau and Odessa.

 

The Sheriff Under-16 team (coach Vitaly Tarasenko) took fourth place, losing to the Odessa Chernomorets. According to the head coach, the boys played worthily with the teams one year older.

 

The Sheriff Academy team born in 2003 (coach Yuri Solovienko) took an honorable first place. In the final match, our trainees were stronger than the players of the Kiev Lokomotiv. The normal time of the match ended in a draw (0: 0), but in the penalty shootout our goalkeeper Andrei Filippov brought a well-deserved victory (3: 2), reflecting two opponents ’penalty kicks.

In general, the Autumn Sheriff Cup -2019 in one month brought together over 2000 children and youths from Moldova, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria and Transnistria on the fields of SC Sheriff. The age of the players is from 7 to 14 years.

 

About how this international football festival was held, the organizer Tudor Bejan shared in his interview:

 

“I am very grateful to the management of FC Sheriff and all those who took part in organizing this football holiday. We tried to qualitatively change every tournament held. This applies to the organization, life and competition of teams. Got invaluable experience. I think that progress is obvious and, of course, development will continue. It is planned that in the future all three tournaments will be held at SC Sheriff. They understand the importance of this event, and I am glad that we have the same strategic vision in this regard. The tournament will be much stronger next year, because we plan to invite teams from Russia, France and Georgia. It is important for us to create the necessary competition, because local championships do not give international practice. It is very important for our boys to compete with more eminent rivals. At the tournament we see not only guests and parents of children, but also the head coaches of the Moldavian national teams of the country. I will not be surprised that one of the youths will soon represent Moldova in the international arena. ”
