Fernando Peixoto: "I hope to contribute to the history of the club"
The first interview of the Brazilian defender of FC Sheriff - about the game in defense, adaptation and goals for the upcoming season.
- Fernando, now you are a player of FC Sheriff. What are your thoughts on this?
- I am very happy with the opportunity to sign a contract with FC Sheriff and I hope to make my contribution to the history of the club.
- What was the main factor for the transfer?
- When I was presented with the project of the club's infrastructure and the results of its achievements in Moldova, I was eager to move to this team and play for it. For me, this is a good stage in my career, especially considering the participation of the Tiraspol team in European competitions.
- Brazil has strong and technical attacking players. How did you deal with them?
- I have been playing in defense from an early age, I am used to playing on this position. Of course, the Brazilian Championship has some great forwards, perhaps some of the best on the continent. But, again, I repeat - I have adapted to this and try to successfully resist rivals.
- Career stage at FC Lille. What was it like?
- I played 10 matches, it was my debut in Europe. The first, let's say, contact with European football. A good period in which I gained experience and continued to develop.
- How do you adapt to new conditions? Home, relatives and friends are very far from here.
- With adaptation, everything is in order, I will say even more - I like the cold, if we talk about the weather. My wife was with me in France, I hope she will soon come to Tiraspol. This is important in terms of family and psychological well-being.
- What are your goals before the start of the second half of the season?
- We will try to play strongly in the Champions League and advance to the group stage of the tournament, and take first place in the domestic Championship.
