FC Zimbru – FC Sheriff
Today at the Main Arena of Sports Complex Sheriff two principal opponents met in the fight for the Super Cup of Moldova – FC Zimbru from Chisinau and FC Sheriff from Tiraspol.
At the beginning of the match a ceremony of prize awarding took place. The award was given to FC Sheriff forward Juninho Potiguar whose goal scored to FC Costuleni was proposed by the supporters to be the best one in the National Division in the season 2013/2014.
Both teams were careful with each other from the start. The first dangerous moment was only on 16th minute of the match. Marcel Metoua sent a cross on the flank but Denis Rusu could not keep the ball which was finished by Radu Ginsar. However the goalkeeper could improve his mistake. In two minutes Henrique Luvannor had a great chance to score. He came one to one with Rusu, outplayed him and made a shot however FC Zimbru defender could save his team in the last moment. On 22nd minute FC Sheriff players made another attempt to score. Georgiev sent a pass to Ginsar who made a shot on the fly but FC Zimbru goalkeeper dealt with the shot again. Then by the end of the first half Djibril Paye got Potiguar one to one with the goalkeeper. FC Sheriff forward outplayed him but made his shot was quite long. However, the “yellow-blacks” could score in the end of the half. Luvannor was very fast on the flank and sent a pass to Radu Ginsar’s head who in his turn scored to FC Zimbru – 1:0! It seemed that the teams would go for a break with the same scoring but FC Zimbru unexpectedly scored in the extra time. Anatoly Ceptine made a shot which caused a mess in the penalty area, Alexander Grossu was there to send the ball in the goal – 1:1.
After the break FC Sheriff started a fight for the Super Cup. On 47th minute Kadu took the ball in the centre of the field, sent it to Potiguar who made a shot along the goal but Ginsar could not catch it. FC Zimbru were defending hoping for counter attacks. In one of those Dan Spataru came one to one with Serghei Paschenco who did not let the ball in the goal. On 65th minute Potiguar made a shot but it flew near the crossbar. On 75th minute Miral Samardzic had a good opportunity to score but the ball flew few centimeters higher the post. So the normal playing time was finished by the score 1:1. Then there was penalty shootout. FC Zimbru won by the score 4:3.
The new owner of the Super Cup of Moldova is FC Zimbru now. This trophy became the first one in their history.
