FC Sheriff – FC Ural (0:1)
FC Sheriff conceded to FC Ural in a friendly match in Cyprus. This defeat became the first one at this training camp.
Our team had advantage at the start of the game. Kadu got the ball in the box and shot in close corner but the experienced goalkeeper Yuri Zhevnov made a save. By the middle of the half Ural players were close to FC Sheriff goal. Vladimir Khozin sent a firm shot but Alexei Koselev played well. Before the break the opponent team could score a goal by Spartak Gogniev who headed in after a side pass.
In the second half both teams showed aggressive football. Ural was close to double the scoring. Nikita Burmistrov tried to outplay Koselev who was quite far from the goal but his shot was not precise. In one of the episodes there was a controversial point. The referee did not award a penalty to Sheriff. Josip Ivancic got the ball on the side, forwarded it over the defender who in his turn hit our forward in the box. Sheriff was close to score but it never happened. Twenty minutes before the end of the match Alexandr Sapeta was sent off the field but a previously agreed substitution was made.
Sheriff has two matches left to play. On February 22 we play with FC Spartak Moscow, on the next day with FC Aris Limassol.
