Elijah Odede: «I promise to do everything I can to help the club»
Our club signed a contract with promising Nigerian striker Elijah Odede. The 18-year-old footballer has already managed to prove himself in control matches, scoring two goals. Elijah told about his first impressions, adaptation in the new team and personal goals in an exclusive interview with the club press service.
- Elijah, what emotions did you experience when you first learned about the interest of Sheriff?
- Delight and optimism. Such news can only bring joy. It is very pleasant when such a club as Sheriff is interested in you.
- What are your first impressions of the team and the club?
- There is harmony and good atmosphere in the club. You can see that everyone is fully committed to the work.
- How have your teammates accepted you? Have you managed to make friends with anyone?
- Support from the team and the club helps me a lot to adapt. I have already made friends with Nana Boakye, Luis Felipe and Rashid Aka
- Tell us about your soccer path. What clubs or academies did you play in before joining Sheriff?
- I started at Castle soccer academy in Ogbomosho, Nigeria. Then I played for Black Scorpion and Aikon Allah academy. I want to give special thanks to my mentor Gabriel Olaleye who has given me a lot.
- What are your strengths on the pitch? What do you want to work on?
- Speed and dribbling are my main trump cards. Now I am working on improving the realization of chances.
- How do you spend your free time outside of soccer?
- I like to play video games.
- How do you like life in Tiraspol? Have you already got used to it?
- There is a good atmosphere here and I am gradually adapting.
- Which of the famous strikers do you look up to? Who is your idol?
- Since childhood I admire Cristiano Ronaldo. I also follow Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and Rodrigo.
- You have already scored for Sheriff in control matches. Where did this quickness come from?
- A great merit in this belongs to the coaches and teammates. They help me to get used to the new environment as quickly as possible.
- What are your impressions of the conditions in Belek? How comfortable is it to work in Turkey?
- In Belek there are excellent conditions for work. Everything is organized at a high level.
- What is the most difficult thing in the pre-season training camp?
- There are a lot of players from different countries in the team, so at first there were difficulties in communication. But I work on it every day.
- How do you keep in touch with your family in Nigeria? Do they plan to come to your matches?
- We call each other, we communicate via the Internet. We haven`t discussed their arrival yet, but I hope that soon they will be able to come.
- What goals do you set for yourself in your first season for Sheriff?
- 20 goal+pass performances.
- What can the fans expect from you in the upcoming season?
- Victories! I promise to give my best and do everything to make the team happy for the fans. I invite everyone to the stadium to support us in yellow and black colors!
