Dimitrios Kolovos: "In such conditions, the player needs only to focus on his game"
Dimitrios Kolovos gave his first interview as a player of FC Sheriff. The Greek player spoke about himself, his career and plans for the future:
- Dimitrios, tell us why you decided to move to FC Sheriff and what tasks did you set for yourself in the new team?
- There was an offer from my agent to play for the Tiraspol club. I know that Sheriff is playing in the Europa League now. It immediately seemed like a good opportunity to me to pursue a career in the international arena. So I decided to come here. I got acquainted with the infrastructure and was impressed. I played in many clubs, and few had such conditions. In such conditions, the player needs only to focus on his game. As for my immediate plans, my main task is to get to the group stage of the Europa League. I want to help the club achieve this goal.
- Tell us about your position and what kind of football do you like to play?
- I generally like to play football. As for positions, I can play at the helm, in midfield, as a left winger and even as an eight. I like the dominant and high-possession style of play. Let's see what the head coach will offer me, I'm ready, in principle, for any adaptation.
- Tell us about your career in Belgium. Was it hard to recover from a severe injury?
- It was a good period in my career. I played for six months at Mechelen and was close to sign a new contract. Then an unpleasant event happened - got a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament. My compatriot injured me, and I dropped out of football for seven months. It was a difficult period. I overcame all this and recovered. Now I am in good shape and ready to show what I am capable of.
- Surely it’s doubly hard to get injured from your own compatriot.
- That player came to my hospital with his family and asked for forgiveness for this. Yes, this is football, but we must remain human. I didn't hold a grudge against him. This is probably why I quickly recovered. Nobody knows what will happen on the football field. It happens. Who knows? If that hadn't happened, where would I be playing now? In any case, I accepted everything, overcame it and now I want to show my strong football.
- You play for Greek national team, the next match will take place in October in the League of Nations against the national team of Moldova. What is your prediction for this game?
- It's hard for me to predict. The best players of the country take part in the national teams. It's hard to say anything about this game. I don't know much about the Moldova national team. One thing I know for sure - that it won't be easy. You yourself know the results of the matches in our group.
