Day 2. Vazha Tarkhishvili interview
Today for the team were planned two training sessions. In the morning after breakfast there was the first one and after lunch we talked to the sports director of FC Sheriff on the scouting and training camp.
Vazha, tell us about the training camp and about the plans for the team.
Everything goes as planned. It can't be easy during the training camp, but if it's hard here, it will be easier in championship. During the first training camp we paid attention to physics, now there will be more matches and the accent will be on the team play.
What is the scouting all about?
Scouting is used to eliminate weaknesses in the team. We have to search players that will be able to make our team play better.
Our fans are wondering. Now we lost several players but didn't sign anybody. What can you tell them?
I'd like to say that we constantly work in this direction. If someone leaves, there will come other footballers. Now we work and search. It is hard to find a good footballer, but we are doing our best. We search for players who will show even more than those who departed.
What player qualities do you search for?
Head coach determines needed qualities and we follow his needs. Every coach has his own view of the game and his own style of work, this is why criteria can be different. Now we do everything to find footballers that will suit our needs and the needs of our head coach Mihai Stochita.
What hardships do you encounter in scouting?
We are offered a lot of players, and majority of them are below FC Sheriff level, that's why we have to take time and effort to choose the players that will suit our teams. The flow of information is great. We are constantly searching and we strive for quality and not quantity. It may be hard. The aim of our scouting job is to find the players that will help us to win the championship and to move forward.
What positions does FC Sheriff need now?
We always strive to strengthen every line - goalies, defenders, midfielders, attackers. It always has positive effect. Strong players make others grow. We are working on it.
Will there be many signings?
It's hard to say how many signings there will be now and how many in summer. The main thing is that we are working and searching, and it will be good if the players we find will be able to reinforce our team.
After dinner the team took rest and then departed for the second training session under heavy rain, but this did not spoil neither mood nor the training process. After the training session the team returned to the hotel for dinner and rest.
