Bubacarr Tambedou: "The most important thing is that we have achieved a positive result"
First interview as a player of FC Sheriff with Gambian forward Bubacarr Tambedou:
- Bubacarr, tell us your story of becoming a football player.
- I started my journey from the Gambian streets, I played football there until I was 10 years old. The desire to grow and play was very big, so I told my father that I wanted to enter the local football academy. My father was delighted with my decision and took me there. At the Academy, year after year, I went through all the age stages and became a professional player.
- Career in Europe began with the Estonian Paide. What difficulties did you encounter when moving to Europe?
- I played several matches in Paid, then got injured. It was a time when covid brought its limitations to our football life. Almost all championships have been paused, including the Estonian one. I had to return to the Gambia, where I played for Real Madrid from the city of Banjul. Then the restrictions ended and I was given a second chance to return to Europe. For me personally, there were no particular difficulties in Europe. It was a little strange for the first few months. Then you get used to everything.
- In FC Sheriff you have chosen number 19. Is it some special number?
- No, it is not significant for me. I wanted to take number 11, I used to play under this number. It is taken in FC Sheriff. The choice stopped at the number 19.
- How were you welcomed in our club? Have you already made friends with someone?
- They welcomed me well, during training and at home; the whole team, the coaching staff and the staff are always trying to help me from the first day.
- You watched the Conference League match against the Serbian Partizan from the stands - what can you say about this game, what are your impressions?
- Yes, I watched from the stands and prayed that we would win. In training, we prepared for this confrontation, we knew that it would not be easy, but the coaching staff prepared us for the matches with hard training. And, most importantly, we have achieved a positive result. Unfortunately, I could not take part in the match against Partizan, but I was heart and soul with the guys.
