Alec Mudimu: "Tiraspol club is the most titled in its country"
Midfielder of the nationsl team of Zimbabwe, Alec Takunda Mudimu, has signed an agreement recently on his transfer to the yellow-black camp. Before joining the team of Zoran Zekic for the upcoming training camp, Alec told a little about himself in an interview to the correspondent of the club's press office.
- Alec, our traditional question is why did you decide to continue your career at FC Sheriff?
- Earlier, we considered several good offers with the agent and focused on FC Sheriff. I was interested in the history of the club. I know that the Tiraspol club is the most titled in its country, plus a regular participant in the Champions League. The choice to join Sheriff team is a good chance to advance my career growth.
- When did you realize that football is yours?
- Since childhood, I began to be interested in this wonderful sport. My brother always watched football, called me to play with him. At about nine years old football completely attracted me and continues to live in my heart.
- Your record includes games for the English Watford. Tell us a little about this stage of your career.
- Fortunately, my parents had friends who had acquaintances at Watford. As a result, my youth football began to built at Watford. I am very glad that I got there, I learned the basics of football there. This time left a positive imprint on my style and playing skills.
- Since you’ve already started talking about style, will this help you in the championship of another country?
- Of course, these skills will help me in any country and championship. Being a professional player means being strong and fast. I believe that I can qualitatively strengthen the team. After playing several games, I can prove myself and show what I am capable of. I intend to help the club succeed in all competitions.
-You have already played in the matches of the Europa League - are you ready to test your strength in a more prestigious tournament - the Champions League?
-I always wanted to prove myself in the Europa League. We worked and achieved participation in this tournament. There is a participation in the Champions League ahead and I am doubly glad about this. It is an honor for me to represent Sheriff at such a level.
- Tell us about your position on the football field.
- I play as a midfielder that destroys the attack of opponents, but I like to creat in football. I played many matches for clubs and for the national team. I had to apply different skills, including creative ones. In modern football, the arsenal of opportunities for playing in different positions is growing, and you need to keep up with the times.
- It is well known that Sheriff has a high level of competition. And what about the situation in Zimbabwe team, for which you have already played 18 matches?
- In Zimbabwe, the level of competition is high. I participated in the Africa Cup of Nations. This is a very strong competition. Team players are very fast. There was a tough fight in matches with the teams of Egypt, Congo and Ghana. This leaves a definite imprint on the struggle for a place in the main team of my country.
