A workmanlike victory
The final of the second round in Division A has started. FC Sheriff youth team hosted FC Cahul-2005 in the 14th group stage leg.
From the first minutes of the encounter, both teams showed high tempo with lots of dangerous moments. However, the score was opened only in the 39th minute. The Wasps were given a free kick turned by Marin Căruntu into a flawless goal. By the end of the first half, the visitors had a perfect chance to even the score but after a promising attack Vladimir Kharitonov failed to score into FC Sheriff’s net. Luka Pavlovic’s squad, on the contrary, managed to turn their chances into goals. Those were the merits of Eugeniu Rebenja and Mihail Caimacov.
Three conceded goals didn’t satisfy our vis-à-vis and in the beginning of the second half they finally managed to score one goal. Vladimir Kharitonov took his chance this time. Having overplayed our defenders in the air, he shot the ball right in Viktor Straistar’s net.
In the 61st minute, Marin Căruntu bagged a brace, closing the final match score. The game ended in a 4-1 hard-earned victory of FC Sheriff Academy’s team.
